Pep Guardiola: Barcelona 'dominated' the match against AC Milan

"We played well, we had possession of the ball and we dominated," Guardiola told reporters after their quarter-final first-leg encounter.

"At half-time, I told my players not to take too many risks, but despite that we had 17 shots on target while playing with nine players from our youth ranks.

"We played like ourselves in a match which was really demanding. Milan are satisfied with the result and that is the biggest compliment we can get from a club with seven European Cups.

"The fans must show up in the second leg. These players have given too many things to be left alone. I know that the fans will come."

Messi: We deserved to beat Milan

"It was a tough match that we should have won. We played our game but it was difficult because of the pitch, and because they [Milan] are very strong," Messi was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

The Argentine then admitted that the Blaugrana face a perilous scenario in the return leg at home as the tie remains delicately poised.

"It’s a dangerous situation. Either team could go through, we hope we can score in the return so it will be us. We deserved to win [the first leg]."

Mascherano voices frustration with AC Milan draw

"We played very well but when you have six or seven chances to score and you don't take them it's difficult to take. But that's football, and we have to look forward now," Mascherano was quoted as saying on the official Uefa website.

"We know how experienced they are. They have a lot of clever players so I think the next game will be the same because they defend so well.

"But we have a lot of players in attack that can put on a good show, score goals and win us the match. Obviously with all the Barcelona supporters behind us we will try everything to get through to the next round."

Neymar: I want to learn from Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo

"I have both Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as my idols. If I can take a little of each player's game and make it my own, I would be very happy," the young star laughed, in Thursday's interview with Globoesporte.
One particular aspect of the Brazil international's game which has invited comparisons with Ronaldo is his style of taking free kicks, but Neymar insisted that it was merely coincidence.

"There are players that try to imitate others, but at free-kick time it is a personal thing. Every person has their own technique and routine when they stand over the ball and I have mine, I am not trying to copy anyone."
